Honda X11OC History and
Mission Statement
|
|
Honda introduced the mighty
CB1100SF X11 to a quizzical market in 1999. Initial press reports were
positive with reviewers raving about the bikes abundance of power and
its brutal styling. However, this honeymoon period was to be short lived
as they quickly started beating it with the "ugly stick" and
that was the theme from then on in almost every review. This short sighted
attitude from the press really had a massive, negative, impact on sales
and sadly Honda dropped the X11 from its portfolio in 2003 after only
one minor revision to a bike so clearly ahead of its time.
Riders however, loved it! Anyone who actually swung a leg over the beast
just couldn't get enough of it. Of course, they had to be a special
breed of rider in the first place. Brave enough to accept the challenge
of riding such a bike and thick skinned enough to ignore the comments
from the uninitiated.
In
2001 here in the UK, a small group of "aficionados" was prompted
to set up an owners meeting after replying to a bulletin board post
by an enthusiastic X11 owner called "Phil Bowring". We quickly
established ourselves into the "X11OC" when another enthusiast
"Fast Eddy" set up a web site to publicise and co-ordinate
the planned event. So the club and web site was formed and has evolved
into the extensive site that we have today. The site and club is still
run by "Fast Eddy", although he'll be the first to admit that
he's not as fast as he once was!
We
welcome all owners and fans of the Honda X11 to join us in our X11OC
and forums. We have always had a "family" feel to our club
and you'll quickly feel at home.
So
join us today! Just register on our forums and be a part of one of the
biggest X11 clubs in the World!
