Front brake light switch

2 posts in this topic

I'm going slightly mad!!!!!

Brake lights didn't work from the front switch but did from the back brake. Removed the switch, gave it a WD40ing, cleaned the wiring connectors (both male and female parts) plugged it in before replacing it onto the bike and it now works fine, OR DOES IT???? the plunger which is activated by the brake lever operates smoothly so I imagine that all's well inside the switch however the part of the brake lever which contacts the plunger moves away from the switch as the lever is pulled so I assume that the switch should be ON when the plunger is out and OFF when it's depressed. This, however is the exact opposite of what's happening!!! When I push the plunger in, the brake lights come on and go out when I release the plunger!

WTF is going on?

The switch can only be fitted in the correct way.

I don't mind buying a new switch but can't for the life of me figure out what's going on!!!!!

Somebody shoot me!

so when you pull your brake lever the light goes out and when you release it the light goes on? that seems rather odd. could the wires be connected the wrong way around? maybe you have a break in the loom somewhere which is causing the issue? if the switch seems to be working properly only the signal is wrong then i dont think a new switch would solve it but if they're cheap you could always try.
