Frame colours?

As you do I was browsing the net looking at pics of the x11 on the net. I notice some have black frames, and headlight mounts and some have silver ones? Is the black frame etc a mod that people do or just varying colours by year. I must say I much prefer the black frame etc, especially on the black bikes

the earlier models had a silver metalic frame (matt ray silver), the later ones had the black frame (not sure what the colour name is).one of the differences between the SFx and SFy.
