Prepare after standing for three year

3 posts in this topic

Due to illness I have not used, started or looked at my W reg X11 and it was left with fuel in so I need help with a list of what I need to do to bring it back to use i.e. do I empty the tank and put new fuel in and add infector cleaner? Do I remove the plugs and spray some two stroke into the cylinder and let it soak before turning it over etc…

the internet has too many people who contradict each other and I really want my bike back to full health like me. Many Thanks in advance , Lee

if the fuel wasnt ethanol free i would definitely recommend getting all the old fuel out preferably also the fuel in the fuel rail get as much out. once you've managed to get all the fuel out i would just start with fresh fuel if need be add an injector cleaner. as for the cylinders i wouldnt bother oiling through the plug holes as they require a bit of digging to get to if it makes you feel more comfortable you can always do it . maybe just put in new oil/oil filter to ensure good lubricating properties? instead of turning the engine with the starter you could try to turn the engine over by hand first a couple of rotations. either put a socket of the generator nut or put the bike in 5th on the center stand and turn the engine by turning the wheel slowly forward. make sure to only turn the tyre forwards. for any specialty tips you could always phone up a garage and get some proper adice from their experience. hope this helps!

also make sure your fuel pressure regulator hasnt gone bad and let all the fuel into the cylinders/oil. thats why i'd swap out the oil first if there's any fuel in the oil you'll instantly notice from the viscocity of the oil and smell.
