Temp Needle Always at Maximum

2 posts in this topic

Hi,

The temp gauge on my X11 always points to the maximum as soon as you turn on the ignition.  I ran all the tests in the service manual and it diagnosed a faulty sensor.  I bought and fitted a new sensor but the problem persists.

Does anybody have any idea what's causing it?

Thanks.

Not something I've had to look into myself.  Was the replacement sensor a brand new honda part, or from a breaker/aftermarket?

I'd re-run the test with the new sensor.  If it fails, report it as "dead on arrival" and ask for a replacement.  It's not un-heard of for a brand new part to be DOA out of the box.  A good breaker should also be sympathetic - they'd expect it on a percentage of their sales.  A bad breaker will try to say it's not their problem, because they "tested it before sending out" (but that would be an untruth on their part).

If the new sensor passes the test (and the gauge passed it's test), then I'd be looking at connectors and wiring shorts.

Hope you get it sorted.
