Poor fuel consumption

5 posts in this topic

Morning everyone,

I wonder if anyone can help. I bought my Honda x11 a few months ago and I'm only getting around 100 miles to a full tank. Also the fumes smell as though the fuel mixture may be a big rich. I've read on the forum that it may be the fuel pressure regulator. Has anyone had a similar problem and had any experience fitting one themselves or is it best left to the professionals.

Thanks in advance,

Craig

Hi Craig,

How did you end up solving your issues? and did the issue with low mileage just suddenly play up or did the mileage gradually decrease? i'm asking because i have noticed my mileage going down a bit with the previous two tanks. could be nothing but if my fuel pressure regulator is starting to fail i wanna know in advance. would be great if you can help shed some light on the issue!

Mvg,

Hi,

I did my fuel pressure regulator this summer, I had poor fuel consumption and smelled fuel from the bike after each ride and its much better now.

It was quite simple job with the service manual, even though not fully described. Just make sure you have lots of rags ready for the fuel pouring out the rail and dont forget to move the little valve-thingy from the old to the new regulator :)

Hope it helps

Hi Bjorn!

thnx for the reply! for now i'm holding out with the current fuel regulator. it is currently colder and much windier because of winter that must've affected my fuel economy aswel. i will keep your advice in mind if i plan on changing the regulator in the future!

regards,
