Blowing zorts

15 posts in this topic

OK just got some new cans and they blow at every point were they join together. ie at the slip on part and the link to the down pipes. I guess I need new gaskets for the link pipe end but I see no sign of a gasket on the slip on part.

What do I need to do to get em all sealed up please

A bit of Gun Gum paste on the joints would help 'till you get a bit of carbon built up.

As far as I remember, my cans used the standard gasket and clamp at the collector box end.

Just use silicon sealer (any) on the joints. You'll be surprised to know that this is whats recommended for sealing head to exhaust manifold joints on V8's - it works.

If you are going to use exhaust paste, use Firegum (white) rather than gun gum.

Hi Rich, have you bought those Delkevic silencers?

If so, there was no extra gaskets in the box when i got mine. As Eddy mentioned, the only gaskets you use are the silver standard Honda ones that go from collector to link pipe.

If these are damaged or too thin, you will get a bad seal and they won't tighten up. Only option is to buy 2 new ones as i had to do this.

The bit where the link pipe and silencer go together, just push into each other, the silencer port having 2 cut out's so you can open them a bit using a flat blade screwdriver to then allow the link to push in about 1" and then it can be tightened with the small clamp.

So really it shouldn't blow there at all, only at the collector end if the gaskets are shot.;)

Cheers mate,

I ordered some new honda gaskets, some more clamps ( now have 4) and baught some fire gum. I will bin the Honda clamps as they don't fit the new link pipes too well. I will get it sorted this weekend.

Thanks for the input everyone. :)

When I bought my New end cans from Venom (Motad performance devison) they redesigned the link pipes to fit without gaskets (metal to metal) they don't leak & I can remove them with ease without the worry of paying for new gaskets. They enquired first if this would be ok with me first. Very constructive of them I thought.

Sounds like a good thoughtful company that Wayne , some of them produce zorsts etc that look cool but trying to get them to seal is another problem , The Acro will leak when its been removed and polished but once its been run for a while its good , the joints don't require sealant , If they wont seal find out what the manufacturer suggests or ask for a full refund , That will get em rethinking

Rich you should have got 4 clamps in the set. The 2 bigger ones replace the standard ones.

They must have cocked up with your order mate.
