Painting the radiator side pods

4 posts in this topic

Hi Guy's

I'm going to repaint my radiator side pods in Satin Black.

Can anyone who has already done this please let me know what type of paint you used and if you were happy with the results you got. Please let me know if you used a plastic primer or not.

Cheers

Mart

Hi Martyn, i did mine with 'Holts Dupli-colour' matt black and also used Holts grey primer.

Good paint and leaves a great flawless finish. I did mine with rattle cans but if you have proper spray equipment, you will get a better result.

I never used a laquer either, the paint is so tough you don't need it.

I've always used a plastic primer before painting anything plastic. That's not to say you won't get away with not using it, but it's best not to skimp with paintwork.

I had mine done by a sprayer, he used a fixer spray first before using a primer, from what I understand it seals the plastic and gives a finish for the primer to adhere to. Use acrylic paints and laquers as they are flexible so shouldn`t crack if the plastic flex`s for any reason
