REAR SHOCK

7 posts in this topic

Saw somewhere on a Blackbird or OTHER..rear shock with a cover (sleeve) on it..to protect it against all the shit getting to it.

Looked either rubber..or a fabric / waterproof item.

Anybody any knowledge..experience ?

Thanks

Andrew

Friend of mine had those "protectors" on his motocross atv (polaris with ktm engine), on warm weather those made oil in shocks boil.

After few rounds on track, shocks were done, removing those protectors solve the problem.

I think that it may be different thing with bike thou.

I read about a street version in one of my mags (RIDE or PB) but can't find the article. I think they were made by Lizard Skins but here are a couple of links:

My shock stays pretty clean with the rear hugger, though and I wondered about the heat, too. Maybe in street use it won't be such a problem.

Wayne has it on his forks, a kind of neoprene if I remember right.

I don't see the need

wanting one for looks - ok

but my rear hugger kept mine pristine - washed and dried and WD40'd it as often as the rest of the bike

covering something like that for all the crud to accumulate unseen makes cleaning and inspection difficult, surely?
