SF-Y / SF1 differences

11 posts in this topic

Aside from differences in finish - frame colour, black-painted engine parts etc - are there any technical variations between the SF-Y and SF1?

Don't think so mate. All the differences are what you have mentioned.:)

I told someone that the fuel pump would be the same once.... then noticed it had a different part number!

So who knows what other minor changes Honda made?

One my pet annoyances is seeing the X11 described as a 'naked Blackbird,' when the truth is they have virtually zero interchangeable parts. I owned a Blackbird for a year alongside the X11 and they couldn't be more different.

This is a misconception as the X11 is a naked Blackbird but as stated above with several minor changes!

The main reason they say it is a naked one is that the running gear, brakes and engine is the same but with subtle tweaks!

The styling is the same also even down to early birds having the same mudguard and light fitted on the back as the 11. ;)

The frame is different to the blackbirds as is the rear of the crank case mounts oh and the swingarm. Honda re-designed that area to give more feel (read flex)
