Exhuast Smoke

5 posts in this topic

Just wondering if anyones bike ever gives a puff of smoke on start up??

I have noticed this once or twice on my bike.it isnt an oily bluey smoke,

the oil is still clean,it doesnt burn oil.I have nver had to top it up.Its a whitish

wisp of smoke for a second and then its gone.

The bike doesnt seem lacking any performance wise. But I cant say that

I ever noticed this on my old blue X11 that is now sold.Could this be happening

because my current X11 was laid up for years??Could it just be a bit of condensation

in the pipes.I cant even say that it does this everytime.

Am I paranoid??

It's absuletly normal not only for x11, but for any other internal combustion engine.

Hah, had to start my bike for this one (who else did it?) that is 99,9 % paranoia, count how many revs the engine rotates before fireing up, all of those rotations pump fuel and air through the engine and when it fires all that mixture is burning away. That 0.1% might be hardened valve guide seal, little bit seeping injector etc. It doesnt eat oil, that would be blue smoke, it eats gasoline how it should eat, like mine does. Stay calm and relax, i have also old paranoia about my regulator, checking out my cig lighter volt meter really too often...

Mate every bike I have had has done it, worse early in the morning, condensation I believe.

And yes your old blue X-11 does do it.
