Rear Brake Pads

6 posts in this topic

Hello,

I am thinking of changing my rear brake pads.

How easy is it to do yourself?

If it is easy can anyone tell me how to do it in some easy steps please?

Cheers

John

Very easy to do John, remove rubber cap from brake pad rod, withdraw rod, lift out old pads. Clean calipers, push in pistons, fit new pads ( with springs) insert caliper rod, refit rubber cover. Job done, apart from making sure they work, of course.

A bit of red rubber grease around the pistons

and work them in and out a few times doesnt go amiss either.

I also smear a bit of copper slip on the back of the pads keeping well away from the edges (mainly where the pistons are) :smileybiker:

Thanks for all the help, I have changed them today. Just one question. What are the springs that you mentioned?
