Fuel Filter

13 posts in this topic

About to change the spark plugs and air filter on the new eleven(flying banana).

The fuel tank is off,and i was thinking of changing the fuel filter before putting

it back together again.

Have you seen the price of a genuine Honda fuel filter!!!!!!!!!

Its north of fifty quid....someone is taking the piss me thinks..Fifty sovs

for a small plastic vessel with a few filtery gubbins inside...

Anyway my question is..Has anyone here replaced their fuel filters?did they

use a genuine Honda part or an aftermarket one?Can anyone suggest an alternative

that will work?

 Any help appreciated guys..

Just forcing a cleaning agent in the reverse direction of normal fuel flow.

I suppose using carb cleaner like Eddy says, and then followed bt fresh fuel would do???

Should work, the aim being to blow out anything caught in the filter.

You could always whip it off and compare for something suitable down the local motor factors.

Bit late on this one!

But, I changed mine and it made a <significant> difference, believe it or not. I stuck a post somewhere...

It's inside the petrol tank, you have to unbolt the plate type thing at the bottom of the tank.

Is this really the best place Honda could come up with to put it?

Is it as simple as turning it upside down(with fuel in tank) taken it out and swapping it over?

empty the tank first as if you turn it upside down you will get petrol leaking or run it as low as you can then stand the tank on its front end vertical so all the petrol is stored below the filler hieght, if you are in doubt take it to a local mech.
