Hello all

I am going on tour in approx three weeks and want to fit some gadge to my bike, but want to wire into the ignition live so as to reduce the risk of a flat battery. I already have a satnav straight off the battery but there are a couple of other stuff i want to wire up.

You need to fit a fuse protected relay, connected to the battery but with a trigger from one of the ignition live's in the sub-fuse box under the seat.

Download the workshop manual (from the download section above) and consult the wiring diagram.

From the relay you fit, you could fit a small fuse box to serve your accessories, or you could use an inline fuse for each.

You can use front brake light switch + wire as a trigger, i have a cig lighter socket from that.

Reason why i did it like this was

1. Easy to connect, no long wires.

2. Honda´s "Ready to Go" kits (for newer bikes) with heated grips contains sub wire harness that connects those heated grips to brake light switch. I assume that there is enough power.

3. That connection doesnt have any relay, i have had no problems with that connection.

I wouldn't run multiple items off that one feed though, like he plans to!

Thank you to those that have replied. I do plan on putting multiple accessories on including heated grips later in the year.
