About the clack clack! when start from cold.

5 posts in this topic

I have this problem since I bought the bike, I read the solution in the FAQ:

Why does the engine or clutch knock when I start from cold?

Use the x11oc starting technique!

  • Turn on ignition
  • Pull in clutch lever and hold it in!
  • Start engine
  • Pull out fast idle knob (LH side under frame near back of tank) until 1500rpm shows on tacho (standard idle speed 1100 rpm).
  • Slowly release clutch lever.
  • Alow bike to warm up... push back the fast idle knob and ride away with a grin!

But it does not work, the bike still making this clack noise, this may be that the clutch has been damaged???

(Sorry for my english, I hope you understand me)

Also check the Balancer shaft adjuster by slackening the locknut and turning the shaft clockwise until resistance is felt then back a bit.

I hope you understand what I mean.

The adjuster is left of the oil pipe in this picture...

I'll keep you informed.

By the way, I hope someday to get to know my x11 Scotland, is one of my dreams. I am from Asturias, northern Spain, is very similar to Scotland, the scenery and climate, not many days suitable for bike lol!

By loosening this off and re adjusting will it help with the clacking as you put it on start up? is it to be done when running or before?
