Belly Pan

21 posts in this topic

Has anyone got a belly pan fitted recently? I have seen the one on that auction site for £40 but it doesn't come with fixings. Anyone got experience with these? I can get it painted but don't want to get it if it's a nightmare to fit. I've seen the powerbronze version but this covers a bit too much of the engine for my taste.

The one I really like seems to be made by a company called topline but I can't find anywhere that sells them online.

I've looked through old threads, but unfortunately the image links are no longer valid and the links have expired. If anyone has recent experience of this, it would be great to hear from you.

Cheers

Matt

Matt if you google in espace tuning they have the topline belly pan that you like also you can look on the germany page of that auction site,as there a few on there but I don't know about fitting kits. You could ask if any members can read germany to help you if you get the numbers off the page,Bry

Hi, I'm at the same stage...want one but don't know which one to get...the one on that auction site is from germany, unpainted, but I think that it bolts straight on,...the other offering on that auction site is a powerbronze carbon effect which I agree with you looks bulky (but is £20 cheaper than they are offering on their own web site...

HI again I think if you are looking at the germany belly pan on either of that auction site sites you also need to look at which is their fitting kit for belly pans Bryunsure.gif

Mine came from here ricambi-weiss-com of evilbay and it did come with the fitting kit for £36 plus post. The kit is 4 metal straps with threaded inserts in one end to fit to the pan itself with 4 bolts. You have to bend the straps in the correct place to fit to the engine and then drill them to allow you to bolt them on. A bit of fidly I know but the finished pan once fitted looks good from others I have seen as I hve not yet fitted mine. X11 Bob has the sme one fitted to his , pics are in the gallery.

I have one on mine, got it off e-bog for about £30 plus £10 postage.

It was just a white fibreglass item with no fitting instructions and it came with 4 attaching straps.

You do have to drill the holes out of the bellypan though to fit it. Same firm do the huggers, same fitment.

Pics in gallery on my bike. :)

Mines the same one too, no instructions but easy to work out and fit only issue i`ve found is the heat transfere from the exhaust on one of the fittings as it mounts where the sheild bolts on, so the paint has bubbled a little

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm going to go with the belly pan €39 (fitting kit €15) and hugger €33 from Wicambi Weiss. I went for the unpainted option as I intend to get them and the radiator cowl colour matched with the red Honda paint. I've been quoted about £100 for the spraying, does that sound reasonable?

Raeman, how do the fitting straps work. Do you bolt them to existing fittings or do the straps wrap round pipes. Can't quite work out in my head how the straps work. Your x11 looks excellent and the belly pan makes it look that little bit more aggrerssive.

Cheers guys

Matt

Thanks for the compliments Matt. ;)

The 4 fitting straps actually bolt to the engine block itself in various places and when you have them altogether in your hand so to speak, it's easy then to work out which strap goes where.

If your having any trouble fitting it, give me a PM and i'll mail you some photo's of mine if you want.

Also £100 for the painting sounds resonable to me, go for it! ;)

Hi,

I also ended up for Ricambi Weiss belly pan and hugger.

Did you remove rear tire to get the hugger installed?

Does anyone have a closer pics on the fitting straps installation positions for belly pan?

Cheers

Hi,

I would appreciate if someone could post couple of detailed images of the Ricambi Weiss belly pan fitting straps attached to engine block.

Thanks!

Hi,

I attached the belly pan now. I still need to figure out some heat protection on right side where  the pan is near exhaust to avoid heat damage.

The rear left mounting place was not a good idea. I used one of the bolts for water pump. It started to leak some cooling liquid. Either I need to buy longer bolt for it because the belly pan mounting plate is between the pump cover and bolt. Or I need to figure out other place for the mounting. Any ideas?

I temporary fixed it with cable tie.

It was a bit of hard work to modify those fitting plates to get the pan sitting nicely.

Some drilling, sawing and filing and then mount the belly pan, see the fitting, remove it, do the modifications to plates and try again.. phew!
