Coughed & died

12 posts in this topic

Hello, I'm a new X11 member & have a question. I was out last weekend, first time since a tour of Scotland & the FI light lit and the bike stopped and wont re-start. Its not priming the pump

prior to starting, any ideas?

Hi Peter,

Worth checking the basics first. Have you checked the battery connections to make sure they are good and firm. If so is the battery healthy?

All the dash lights come on when I turn the key but the pump doesn't prime, but there was a couple of misfires 5 mins before it stopped which makes me think its a fuel problem.

Check all the earth connections. Did the F1 light show any error codes?

Pete

The F1 flashes a long and short amount of times; this is your error code.  for example; 1 long 2 short would be code 12

The bike needs to be on the side stand though; otherwise it will just stay on

Hi Mick,

all sorted, the main 30A fuse blew, we checked the wires in the tail where the ecu lives and found a bared wire which must have earthed out. We also found (by accident

a wire badly frayed from the power commander and a multitude of crimped terminals falling off wires. So all soldered with jap connectors and sealed with heat shrink now all

seems OK but thanks for the input.

All the best

Pete
