Engine dies

11 posts in this topic

so you know,

changed air filter, new fuel filter sparks.

my usual journey into work, has only happend twice and not on every ride.

about 4 to 5k revs 70mph if i shut the throttle off the engine seems to die/shut ff completely, still have electric power to lights and then it will pick up, almost as if the fule has been starved or its running  on empty tank?

any ideas?

How often has the bike been ridden, has it sat up for a while, how often has it done this.

Are there any flashing codes displayed?

Did the airbox go back together ok, all the sensor plugs attached?

Trapped tank breather maybe?

If it was OK before I'd be retracing my steps cheking as I went, be methodical.

Good luck.

ive replaced the fuel filter with a brand new offical one that goes in the fuel pump.

tank breather hose? hmm might explain why it sounds like its dying.  it finally died on me today.

how would i spot a breather hose issue?

if i open the fuel cap would it soun dlike a vacuum ?

If you fish the breathers out from right rear of engine then open fuel cap. Blow up breathers making sure you don't put the end in your mouth. I had a Triumph where the cap end of the hose would block with dead flies!

Not such a good idea to spread your problem all over the forum!

Who knows what's already been suggested now?
