Still tight.....not run in yet!!!

4 posts in this topic

Sold my blue X11 to Jason last year...22,000 miles

on the clock, and running as sweet as a sweet thing.(battery apart...sorry Jase!!)

I always thought that the motor in that one was a stoater..

Just bough another blue X11,this one also has 22,000 miles under its wheels

and this one feels just as zippy and sweet revving as the one that I sold on .

My yellow bike has only 8000 miles or so on it and just doesnt quite feel

as zippy  or snappy at the throttle as the other two.On its own it seems to

run great, maybe its all in my  mind, but I have a few theories..

1)These mighty motors dont start to get properly loosened up until after

say 10,000 plus miles..maybe more! At 20,000 they are just about perfect.

2)My yellow bike has more to give over the next few years hopefully.

3)My yellow bike is suffering from being badly stored for many years

and will never be as good as the other two.

4)Maybe I have used some crappy, counterfeit service bits on my yellow bike

when I was recomissioning it,and these are affecting the way that it performes.

5)Maybe its just that Blue bikes go better than any of the others???

Any opinions and or experiences welcome chaps..

maybe the owner before used fully syn.and the engine is still tight how you go about undo that is a can of worms. But maybe the other two have popular updates done that you didn't know had been did airbox and rubbers and after market exhaust etc or maybe that you have the gentlemen x11 you have become mature.LOL

The service book that came with my yellow bike showed

that ony servicing work was done by the main dealer who supplied the

bike themselves.I would have hoped that a main Honda dealer would

know to use the correct oil Brian..but then again

you never know do you mate

Honda Engine's are not run in properly until around the 20K mark, that is when they start getting good, have been told that by many a Honda expert.
