Number-plate fell off.

10 posts in this topic

Just got home after a good run out and noticed my number-plate was sitting between the rear nearside foot-peg and the swing arm!

Only the very long (2") screws were stopping it falling through. Lucky, or what. Went to re-attach it and it looks as though it was fixed by the screws going into the thin plastic of the rear fender. Two largish holes in the plastic seem to confirm this. The fixing area is about 2"-3" in height but looking at the manual it appears to show a much larger fixing area. I don't like the idea of re-fixing it into the thin plastic, but there seems little choice. Thought about fixing into a piece of wood placed behind the plastic but can't see how to get at the relevant area.....any thoughts?

My previous under tail had a extra support for the plate, it was Ermax under tail like yours seems to be.

That plate was attached under the tail and also with the plate it self.

Cheers Henri, think i'll have to make some sort of backing plate like yours, maybe bent to attach under the rear fender.

Forgot to say, made a bracket for the number plate out of two bits of Ally. Fixed it with cavity fixings then pop-riveted the number-plate to that. Feels good and firm, fingers crossed it stays on this time.
